Jiyomi字読み The app Français

Terms of use

Updated on September 25, 2026. These terms apply to the Jiyomi app (Android and iPhone) and to the site jiyomi.app, published by Dorian Souc (sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel), SIREN 939 245 189). Using them means accepting them.

What Jiyomi does

Jiyomi reads a page of Japanese photographed with the phone, splits it into sentences and words, and shows furigana, the dictionary and the grammar. All of that is free, unlimited and runs on the phone. Help from an artificial intelligence — translating a sentence, explaining it, re-reading a sentence or a page from the photo — goes through our server and is paid in glyphs.

Top-ups

A top-up is a one-time purchase, with no commitment, that credits your Jiyomi account with the number of glyphs stated on the product. It is credited once per transaction, as soon as the store confirms it to us (usually a few seconds after the purchase).

AI help

Translations, explanations and re-readings are produced by an artificial-intelligence model. They are provided as is, to help reading, and may contain errors: the app flags what it does not recognise, but does not guarantee that a translation is correct. The excerpts sent to the AI are the ones you choose to send; see the Privacy page.

Availability

Jiyomi is made by one person. The service is provided without a guarantee of continuous availability; the AI help may be paused during an outage or when a spending cap is reached, and glyphs are then not taken. Reading, furigana, the dictionary and the grammar keep working offline.

Intellectual property

The name Jiyomi, the mascot Jiyo and its companions, and the code and design of the site and app belong to the publisher. The dictionary is a derivative work under CC BY-SA licences (see About). The pages you photograph remain their authors’ and publishers’: Jiyomi is for reading them, not for redistributing them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, and if no amicable solution is found (contact@jiyomi.app), French courts have jurisdiction. Consumers may also turn to a consumer mediator under the French Consumer Code.
